ENVIRONMENTAL
Carbon Ambitions
We are committed to group-wide operational control to ensure sustainability across all business units.
5%
By 2030, we will reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by at least 5% per year, based on the baseline year 2022.
100%
By 2030, we will achieve 100% renewable electricity usage in our operations.
Explaining Our Greenhouse Gas Reporting
A key part of Syloon's environmental strategy is to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by at least 5% per year and implement sustainability measures to meet our 2030 goals. Our emissions reporting follows the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, which provides the framework for measuring and managing carbon emissions.
Scope 1 & 2: Direct Emissions
Scope 1 and 2 cover direct emissions from our operations, including facility energy consumption and company-owned or leased vehicles. To achieve reductions, we are transitioning to 100% renewable electricity and improving energy efficiency across our production sites.
Scope 3: Indirect Emissions
Scope 3 emissions come from our entire value chain, making up a significant portion of our total carbon footprint. The most substantial contributor to Scope 3 emissions is raw material usage in our product collections, followed by logistics, business travel, and waste management.
How Will We Reduce Our Scope 3 Emissions?
The biggest impact will come from transforming our product portfolio. Our goal is to ensure a high percentage of our product materials are sustainable and certified by 2030. This includes:
01
Using recycled and certified materials such as FSC-certified paper and GRS-certified recycled content.
02
Conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to measure and improve the environmental impact of our products.
03
Enhancing supply chain traceability to ensure responsible sourcing.
Setting Science-Based Targets
To ensure our sustainability commitments are ambitious, transparent, and aligned with global climate goals, Syloon follows the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) framework. The SBTi is a globally recognized partnership between CDP, the UN Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and WWF. It provides companies with a clear pathway to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in alignment with the Paris Agreement, limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
In 2025, Syloon will submit near-term and net-zero targets to the SBTi for validation. This review process ensures our goals are scientifically robust and meet the highest standards in emissions reduction.
We prioritize decarbonization—reducing emissions at their source—before considering any offsetting measures. Our roadmap includes switching to renewable energy, improving production efficiency, and increasing the use of certified sustainable materials in our product lines.
By adopting science-based targets, we are holding ourselves accountable for a measurable, impactful reduction in carbon emissions and contributing to a sustainable future.
Collaborating with Suppliers for Emissions Reduction
At Syloon, we recognize that reducing our environmental impact requires collaboration with our suppliers. Beyond improving our own operations, we actively engage with suppliers to implement sustainable practices and minimize carbon emissions throughout our supply chain.
To enhance environmental transparency, we have introduced a Supplier Environmental Risk Assessment program. This assessment evaluates key areas such as:
● Use of renewable energy
● Environmental certifications
● Waste management and reduction strategies
This data forms the foundation for strategic partnerships, allowing us to work alongside suppliers to drive measurable improvements in environmental performance.
Carbon Offsetting
While our primary goal is to reduce emissions at the source, carbon offsetting plays a complementary role in our ESG roadmap. Our approach follows the Oxford Offsetting Principles, ensuring:
● Emission reduction remains the top priority
● Offsetting aligns with long-term carbon removal solutions
● Investment in sustainable projects with durable carbon storage
By aligning with these principles, we ensure that our offset initiatives support global net-zero ambitions effectively.
Environmental Management System (EMS)
All of Syloon’s sustainability efforts are centralized within our Environmental Management System (EMS), covering areas such as:
● CO2 reduction targets
● Water conservation
● Supplier environmental performance monitoring
To ensure credibility and best practices, Syloon is working toward ISO 14001 certification, a globally recognized standard for environmental management systems.
Waste Management: Disposal and Recycling
As part of our commitment to sustainable operations, Syloon follows a structured waste management process through the Recycled Material Consolidation Center (RMCC) to ensure proper disposal and recycling. We categorize waste materials and process them in compliance with environmental regulations. Syloon declares the following types of waste.
We collaborate with certified recycling and disposal organizations to ensure compliance with regulations in different regions. Waste collected at Syloon is processed at RMCC, where materials are sorted, recycled, or sent for responsible disposal. Note that general logistics items such as pallets are not included in the above schemes.
